You know all those images you see in the wedding magazines of beautiful brides putting on their makeup, stepping into their shoes, their bridesmaids fussing over them, and their parents seeing them in all their bridal glory for the first time? Just imagine that scene at your own wedding for moment. Pretty amazing and priceless.....AND all because of three little tips I'm going to give you today in order for you to get those images.
Besides the bride and groom's portraits together, this is my favorite part of the wedding day. With so many gorgeous details and precious moments, what's a photographer's heart to do?
My first tip: LIGHT, LIGHT, LIGHT - wether it be a window or a door to the outside, there needs to be light. Natural light is softer and more flattering than lamps or artificial lighting. So when choosing a location consider the lighting. Also don't be surprised if your photographer asks if you can move from the actual getting ready room, into a different space if there isn't any available light.

My second tip: CLEAR THE CLUTTER - bride's getting ready rooms are notorious for clutter, from makeup bags, to shoes, or water bottles. It can build up fast. Especially if you have a big bridal party. If you want to have the clean and elegant getting ready photos you swoon over in the magazines, it’s crucial to clear away the clutter. Brides should designate a clutter person and have them start clearing the area when the photograher arrives!

My third tip: BE PREPARED AND READY - Before the big day, sit down and make a list of all of the details that you would like to have photographed. Shoes, something blue, jewelry, gifts, letters, special items, the veil, vows, wedding invitation suite, dress hanger, etc. Give the list to someone who will be with you in your getting ready room and have that person gather all of those items together for your photographer. That way nothing will be missed, and your photographer won’t have to devote time to tracking them all down. There's nothing worse that taking time away from photographing details because your photographer is searching for the missing flower girl basket.

All wedding photographers want to capture stunning photos of their's clients big day! You deserve beautiful photos that will help you recall the private moments and cherished details years from now. These tips – having lots of natural light, clearing out the clutter, and being prepared with the items you would like to have photographed – will let your chosen photographer capture stunning images of one of the biggest days of your life.
