Hey, I totally get it, you're engaged and your super excited to get the word out that your going to marry the love of your life! And that's a good thing. If you weren't excited, I would be worried.

I get a lot of questions or comments asking if they can omit the engagement session, or that their friend already offered to take them. And of course, the couple's decision is the couple's decision, but here are my 5 reasons why I think you should have your engagement session done by your wedding photographer.

1. The Engagement Session is PRACTICE!

Yep, it's actually practice for the big day. It lets you get to know your photographer, and it lets your photographer get to know you! How you interact in front of the lens and how your photographer is going to pose you. Every couple is different, and the engagement session lets the photographer see which poses work for you as a couple.

2. It Makes You More Comfortable in Front of the Camera

When the wedding comes, you already know what to expect from your photographer because you've worked with them before. You're comfortable because you know what type of photographer you hired. Wether, they are controlled with posing, or a more hands off approach.

3. GREAT for Wedding Decor

Use the images for your save the date cards, a large canvas, or a guest sign-in book.

4. Capture this Time in Your Lives

You've probably never had professional photos taken, minus the school portraits for the yearbook. And definitely not together as a couple. If you have, then you're a professional model or you just like your picture taken. But this is a time to really document this special milestone in your lives.

5. Lastly, just for FUN

Let's say you always wanted to have pictures done in a red dress with your fiancé in a black tie suit. Or you love wildflowers but your venue only had a fall wedding date available.
