Creation over Competition | Kerrville Wedding Photographer

I wanted to do a little different post for this Monday because I feel like I need to say something - lately I've been seeing this "creation over competition" theme happening in the social media arena and I'm seriously LOVING IT! I do tend to have a little bit of a jealous bone. Jealous of other photographers, jealous of instagram feeds, facebook posts, locations I haven't gotten to shoot at (yet), and basically just beating myself up over not being as successful as others. And I thoughts others might feel this way too.

But when I really sat down and thought about how I was feeling, it finally dawned on me that I was really only hurting myself. Being jealous was stealing my ability to create joy for other people. And honestly, my business is not about me, sure it may have my name on it but it's really about the clients I serve. It's about their life's moments and milestones. About their journey being documented, being put in an album or hung on the wall. My little Texas Hill Country business is not about me, it's about the Texas Hill Country people.

So I don't need to think about competing. All I really need to think about is creating. Create the artwork that will last a lifetime. For generations. Capture the moments for people. There is enough to go around. Service is the name of the game. Always will be.

So if you're feeling like you aren't where you're supposed to be in whatever field of work you have chosen, I hope you take a look at how you can service others better! I'm not saying the loving yourself and taking time for yourself isn't important. But sometimes we have to look at what we are doing and see how we can do it better. NOT DO MORE! Do what you're doing BETTER!

Create, don't compete.
